The Gods Giveth

.
I don't want to go so far as to say that y'all have got me to thank for this news, but the last time I hung out with Bryan Fuller he brought up the fact that he'd been bouncing around the possibility of doing the TV version of Neil Gaiman's book American Gods and if you could've bottled the sheer ecstasy that shook my being with those words you'd have been able to power all of eternity, with nary a dip. So basically yeah this is all me. You're welcome.

At that point it didn't sound like it was going to happen, because of rights and junk, but apparently things shifted and here we are with an honest-to-goodness official announcement from Starz that they are developing the series. Bryan will produce and write at least the pilot, while Michael Green of Heroes and will run the show. Have you guys ever read American Gods? Here go buy a copy and read it right now, I'm waiting.

There are not enough words to describe my utter elation! Last I heard, it was going to be on HBO, but that fell through. Now, all I need is an adaptaion of The Witching Hour, and I am set.

I hope they will be faithful to the material. Ever since I read it I've been thinking what great movie it would make, but I guess a tv show is better as they will have more running time. What troubles me is that I read about a second year. Make 10-12 60 minutes episodes and be done with it. I hate when Hollywood sets up smt like that and when it's not successful it is left unfinished.

This is my favorite book of all time. I can't count the number of times I have read it. I have bought several copies of it after having worn them out time after time. I can't wait for this!
