I've really got to go back and finish Les revenants; I made it through three episodes several months ago and then something happened that threw me off course, even though I was totally digging it. Any fans? See lots more Pierre here.

Big fan here. One of my favorites from last year. And, like Utopia, another great series getting an unnecessary and probably ill-fated American remake.
A good part of the charm of Les Revenants was its Frenchness. To paraphrase L.P. Hartley, France is another country: they do things differently there.
French attitudes toward intra-family and inter-generational relations aren't the same as they are in the US. Neither are French attitudes toward alcohol use and nudity (specifically, in this case, male frontal nudity. If you stopped watching half-way through, you may have missed another nude scene w/the delicious looking Pierre Perrier).
I really enjoyed it too, although I found the finale to be a bit strange and I'm concerned the second season could veer off into something silly. If it were an American production, I'd be really worried, but I'm hoping its Frenchness will win over.
stopping halfway might be the best decision; the returned's lack of agency was the story's strong point. towards the end, it veers into lost territory and i vowed i'd never make that mistake again.
We liked it although there is no ending or resolution. I think a second season is coming. And if you gave up after three episodes you missed his nude scenes.
Watch Cold Showers, he's great and sexy in it! Also naked and in a threesome mmmm
