Did you guys know that Steven Spielberg had held off on having his movies released on Blu-ray for some reason? Slash talks about it vaguely over here but I'd love to know why. While I go google that you take in the real news here which is that Spielberg's gotten over whatever hang-up be had and a great big boxed set of his movies is finally being prepared for Blu-ray - The Steven Spielberg Director's Collection will be out on October 14th and it's a doozy - it will have discs for Duel, Sugarland Express (I have never seen this movie!), Jaws, 1941, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Always, and both of his Jurassic Park movies. And there's tons and tons of extras with them. Amazon's got it for pre-sale right now for $139.99 but I feel like that will probably drop even more between now and October. E.T. is already on Blu-ray (and it's cheap as shit too), as are the Jurassic movies; so is Jaws, and it's also dirt-cheap. But the other four movies will be new to the format - even though it was a TV movie I bet that Duel will look great. And I've been meaning to re-watch Always and 1941 for a long time; now this gives me an excuse.
