Quote of the Day II

.
I am really really really really really really really (I could keep going, those "really"'s are really important) hoping that a full video of John Waters interviewing David Cronenberg in Provincetown over the weekend for that city's film festival shows up online; so far we've got a couple brief clips, but that is not enough - I have got to have it all. Til then The Playlist runs down in word-form some of the highlights; there's a bit about Tom Cruise that's pretty hysterical, but my faovirte part had to do with (who else) Holly Hunter and Cronenberg's ode to car-fuckers called Crash:

"I [rehearsed] once on 'The Fly' and I realized it was a neurotic waste of time. It really was. Once we got on set, everything changed. Most of my films are low budget so we don’t have time to rehearse two weeks ahead of time. I’ll tell you one moment, though, it was on 'Crash.' Holly Hunter said to me, ‘We really should have rehearsal.' I said, ‘I really don’t like to rehearse. I like the spontaneity on the set. When we’re blocking the scene is when we rehearse.’ And she said, ‘You don’t understand, I’m fucking everybody in this movie and I should really get to know them first.’"
