Ti One On

I'm kind of worried about director Ti West right now. I really wasn't crazy about his last film The Sacrament - some stuff worked (Gene Jones!) but most stuff was half-baked and he seemed a little blind to the weaknesses staring back; instead of covering up things that weren't working they got centered and highlighted and it was a little inexplicable, to me. It felt as if his focus was off. 

So now when I read about all these big names, with bigger egos, that he's plopping down into his next movie... I'm not so sure this is the right time for him to be diving off that particular deep end. Deadline has word that on top of the Ethan Hawke and John Travolta  that we already knew about (and were dreading) Ti's next flick, an 1890s revenge Western called In a Valley of Violence, will also star Taissa Farmiga (the weak link on American Horror Story) and Dr. Who's Karen Gillan (I don't know her, I don't watch Who). Well at least there will be girls in the movie. 

Alright anyway let's shake off the negativity and throw some good vibes Ti's way. I would love for this to be a bigger-budgeted Trigger Man, his 2007 ultra-ultra-low-budget thriller about a sniper on the loose in a public park that is in my opinion Ti's best movie so far. Can some of that palpabale tension and make magic, man!
