It Springs Back To Life

.
Never count an evil clown down! I thought the new adaptation of Stephen King's scary ass 1987 book about kids and clowns and gang-bangs and space turtles was doornail dead, especially with Cary Fukunaga's big-time mainstream success with HBO's True Detective, but today comes word that there may be juice in the jolly-maker after all. THR says the project has switched studios from Warner Brothers over to New Line, which is apparently re-devoting itself to horror movies. (New Line's known as "The House That Freddy Built," of course.) They don't exactly make it clear whether Fukunaga is still attached, but they don't say he isn't either. It is ripe for a reboot - the only thing the TV miniseries had going for it was Tim Curry, which is a really big something it has going for it, I'll grant you that. But the rest of it - blecch. I wouldn't want to be the fella stepping into Curry's big red shoes, but I don't think it's impossible to find somebody to do the role justice ever again either.

You don't think Benjamin Cobblepot is creepy enough? Or -- even creepier -- Carrot Top!
