I Am Link

.
--- Tank Wars -  I imagine there's a chance this rumor has been refuted by now, but I like it too much to look that up - Latino Review said last week that the folks making the new Star Wars movie were looking at hiring Fish Tank's Katie Jarvis for a part. Oh my god! I so want this to be true. Katie was so wonderful in that film and since poof, nothing. I mean on the other hand I guess there aren't many ways to top having a filthy-talking Michael Fassbender grind himself to completion on top of you as one's first acting experience so I guess I wouldn't blame her for just retiring, either.

--- Breaking The Bang Bang -- A producer who works with Lars von Trier says that Lars is planning on making "the von Trier version of an action movie" some time soon. Whatever the heckfire that means. I see Charlotte Gainsbourg walking in slow motion away from an explosion while stabbing herself in the vag. You?
.
--- Glamour Girls - I've seen a couple of these already but not all - The Playlist gathers up the first few official images from Todd Haynes' Carol, aka his adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's lesbian-melodrama The Price of Salt starring cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, aka the most anticipated movie of all time ever all time.

--- Gaga For Greg - Onto the list of stuff I haven't read yet but am sharing so's I remember to goes this interview with Wolf Creek director Greg McLean, my favorite Aussie silver fox of all, where he talks about that movie and its sequel, as well as his upcoming horror movie 6 Miranda Drive with Kevin Bacon.

--- Beasts Master - Please please please let this rumor be true - Nikki Finke says that Alfonso Cuaron is "deep in talks" to direct the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Cuaron of course directed the third and arguably best movie in the series (I've always loved the fourth myself but I know I'm not on consensus on that); Beasts is going to be a trilogy, based on this little spin-off book Jo wrote.

--- Muscles By Efron - We ought to be moving on from the topic of Neighbors by now, Summer is pretty much hitting full-steam what with Godzilla trouncing the competition this weekend, but here's a nice little book all the way to last week with this piece on that movie's homoerotic tendencies, from Zac Efron's abs on down.

--- Mother Lover - Xavier Dolan's new movie Mommy is playing at Cannes this week, and we've got a poster which you can see in full right over here. See the word "provocative" tossed around like gangbusters! Oh and this is the sort of thing I hesitate to post because I don't want to lose out on my chance at tickets once they go on sale but you guys wouldn't do that to me - Tom at the Farm is showing here in NYC at MoMA in a couple weeks! Whee!

--- And Speaking of incredible things showing here in NYC the Rainer Werner Fassbinder retrospective at the Film Society of Lincoln Center started up this weekend - I've only been to see The Merchant of Four Seasons so far, which I'd already seen but man the experience of catching it on Walter Reade's enormous screen was BEYOND. Anyway like a pig in shit I am because everybody's got pieces on Fassbinder movies out right now - a short list of links: here's my pal John on Fassbinder's television work (RWF was doing TV before TV was cool, yo); here's a run-down of Fassbinder's most frequent collaborators (mostly acting-wise); here's Richard Brody's thoughts on the man's work; and here's a take on the fashion in his movies. And if you guys see more stuff PLEASE send me links, I want to read it all! I seriously cannot get enough of it.
