Buffalo Bill Versus Hannibal Lecter

.
Wanna know what makes me sad? I'm sad that there doesn't seem to be, judging by my minutes of googling, any pictures of Ted Levine and Anthony Hopkins ever being in each other's presence. They must've been at screenings of The Silence of the Lambs when it was opening, or awards shows, or something right? Well the internet's not having any of it, unfortunately. I learned this as I put together today's "Beauty Vs. Beast" for The Film Experience, dedicated to yup you guessed it in honor of a few things which I explain over there, up to and including the second season finale of Hannibal, which was pretty effing astonishing, wasn't it?

Buffalo Bill or what Republicans/fundamentalists think future generations of boys will be turned into if homosexuality is ever fully accepted.

Such a grotesque caricature of what an ignorant bigoted mind thinks of gay men. From his hatred of women, his love of making clothes to his cross-dressing and his fucking little poodle this is the most disgustingly blatant and insulting affront to gay men I have ever witnessed in a main stream movie.

To Thomas Harris all gay men secretly want to be women (that's why Buffalo Bill wants to wear their skin) and all lesbians want to be men (that's why Margot from his novel Hannibal changes her body to that of a man through bodybuilding and sodomizes someone to death).

And at the end of the day, the most ironic thing about all of this is Silence of the Lambs stars a fucking closeted lesbian who hunts down a monstrous gay stereotype. :/
