Good Morning, World

.
As stuffed to the gills with twee as Michel Gondry's new film Mood Indigo is (I talked about it in my review last week but I'm thinking about the movie again this morning after talking about Eternal Sunshine yesterday), it gracefully does do a fair amount of cutting through that with not just darkness (the story is a very dark one indeed, in the end) but with, and this should surprise nobody who's seen a Gondry movie before, just flat out weirdness in execution. Even when it seems the drummer is deranged and has played himself right off the cliff a la that Price is Right yodeling game, Michel marches to his own beat, he just can't help himself, and it leads to things like a sudden, quite unexpected, quite welcome full-screen shot of Romain Duris' pubic bush.

There's a lot of beautifully rendered visual trickery in Mood Indigo, but I'm of the mind that this right here is the shot most worthy of finding the biggest screen to screen this movie on. Hit the jump for a couple more shots of Romain from this sequence...
