Deliver Us From Stuffed Animals

.
The biggest thrill for me in the trailer for the new horror movie Deliver Us From Evil is seeing Eric Bana and Edgar Ramirez sharing the frame - so so close they could touch each other... please touch each other... ahem.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that what they're showing us in this trailer plays so much like Insidious... With Cops!, or The Conjuring... With Cops!, or Sinister... With Cops!, or Paranormal Activity... With Cops!, since that's obviously what's hot right now and the horror genre is nothing if not all over it when it comes to beating a dead horse, but the basic plot of this movie we were given when it was announced sounded different enough - cops and priests teaming up to fight demons in New York - that I really wasn't expecting half of the trailer to be about stuffed animals rolling around on a little girl's bedroom floor at night. Silly me. Here's the trailer:

This is from the director of The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister, both of which had good things about them that were kind of undone by the bad things about them; we'll see where Evil falls on July 2nd.
