Throw Another Backpacker On the Barbie

.
Yesterday I mentioned that Wolf Creek 2 has been released in Australia now and it got pretty good reviews and pretty great box office; we still don't have a release date here in the US, but it has been picked up by a studio and it's supposed to get some kind of outing this year, so fingers crossed.

Here's some news I just learned - director Greg McLean co-wrote a pair of prequel books detailing everybody's favorite Outback maniac Mick Taylor's life back in the day - there's Origin: Wolf Creek Book One, which is about exactly what you think it's about, and then there's Desolation Game: Wolf Creek Book Two, which details Mick's time in the Vietnam War and how that helped him turn his amateur savagery into professional-like slaughter. And fun was had by all! Oh those links only go to Kindle Editions of the books, by the way; I don't think they were released as proper paper editions here in the US. I haven't checked Aussie Amazon yet though.

Finally, the real reason I'm writing this post - Greg McLean is lining up a new movie! It's called 6 Miranda Drive and it's about, and I quote, "a family that unwittingly brings a fear-feeding supernatural force with them when they return from a Grand Canyon vacation." Alrighty. Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell are in talks to star; you may Mitchell already worked with McLean on the killer croc flick Rogue. I'm not the world's biggest Kevin Bacon fan but I'll take whatever I can get if Greg McLean is making it.
