I Am Link

.
--- Slack Spirit - You can catch up on all the Indie Spirit nominations over at The Film Experience, where naturally there's a lively conversation going in the comments on the snubs and what not - nothing for Greta Gerwig is a pain in my heart, but whatever, when it comes to awards I'm mostly dead inside now anyway. Oh and Joe Reid gives his always worthwhile take on the nominations over here.

--- After Darlings - John Krokidas, the director of Kill Your Darlings - a movie I get a pang of guilt about every time I notice it in the side-bar since I haven't reviewed it; I liked it quite a bit too (once again, Ben Foster was best in show) - is lining up a pair of new projects, says Deadline. One a "lush thriller," the other sounds kind of like lite sci-fi a la Her meets Giorgos Lanthimos' film Alps?

--- Grassy No - I can't decide if it's kind of tasteless for the next X-Men movie to glom its advertising onto the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination or not - anyway it has Michael Fassbender in it, so what do I care about anything else really?

--- Green Flagg - No I still haven't seen any of the Jason Bourne movies, let's just get that out of the way. But I did see Captain Phillips, and I thought it was great, so the possibility that Paul Greengrass might make a movie out of Stephen King's The Stand is totally an awesome one. I'm skeptical though - this thing's really made the rounds.

--- Little Big Man - Steven Spielberg's been talking about making Stanley Kubrick's infamously never filmed Napoleon project a reality for a bit now, and now comes word that it might be... an HBO miniseries directed by Baz Luhrman? Well that would be something.

--- The 13th Friday - The thirteenth Friday the 13th movie will be released on March 13th, 2015. It's a shame they couldn't get it out in 2013, but I suppose we all know who to blame for that cough Marcus Nispel cough. Also Michael Bay and the rest of the shit-ass producers at Platinum Dunes. The blame never ends. Anyway the writers behind the last one are also writing the new one so let's hope they learned something off their mistakes. (Like no fucking tunnels, please.)

--- Evil Edgar - The Oldboy remake's writer Mark Protosevich gave an interview where he talked a little bit about the horror script he's working on with director Edgar Wright, which he says tonally will be a surprise because they're really gunning for straight scare the shit out of you. Um, yes please! I imagine this would come after the Marvel superhero movie Ant Man though so we've got some waiting to do.
