To Carrie Or Not To Carrie

.
Well it's here. Kimberly Pierce's remake of Carrie starring Julianne Moore and pointed absence hits theaters tomorrow (actually there probably are early screenings tonight, right?) and the reviews have been coming out, and... well they kind of seem all over the place? I've only read a couple, plus some reactions on Twitter, and they seem to be leaning generally towards the negative but not as definitively as I'd hoped so I could maybe totally escape the thing. That said I don't currently have any plans to go this weekend, and my time is quickly filling up. So I ask you people - are you going to go see it this weekend?
.
.
Or maybe you've already seen it and would like to tell me
what's what. I would like that as well. I just dunno if I can do it.

As someone who even kind of likes the 2002 TV movie, I'm ready to see it. I have a theory that it's impossible to make a bad adaptation of the book. The characters are so rich and their motivations are so complicated that you would have to be actively trying to drain it of ALL that. We shall see.

(The Rage Carrie 2 does not count.)

I'm right there with you on the whole she-who-should-never-be-cast-in-anything-ever-ever-ever thing. She's (barely) tolerable on 30 ROCK, but I put up with the terriblimosity because, ya know, Tina Fey, but I still roll my eyes whenever those episodes crop up. As far as this remake goes, I gotta say pass with a capital Hell no! The special effects in the previews look bad enough to be on some CW tv show, but I do love me some Julianne Moore.

It looks horrible but I'm curious to see how Julianne Moore does.

Saw it. Inferior in every way to its predecessor. I love Moore but I didn't even like her in this. Sorry I wasted the time, and I never say that because I usually find something to like even in the worst movie. Oh, and Judy Greer's coach character was worthless.

I'm a fan of both Hit-Girl and Ms. Moore but I have to say this role was not for Chloe.
Julian was amazing as Carrie White's mother and I wish we had a prequel movie where she's the star.
And lastly, how can you not love Fern Mayo in anything she does?
