The Long Walk To Idris

.
If I'm not going to feel guilty talking about how sexy Chiwetel Ejiofor looks holding a whip while playing a slave then I'm not going to feel guilty parsing the Mandela trailer for idris Elba sexiness either, dammit. I don't think the very serious topics at hand cannot co-exist with the fact that they've hired beautiful men to draw our eyes towards the very serious topics at hand - pointing it out doesn't undermine anything. (Justify justify justify away.) Soooo the new trailer for Mandela's here and I can't quite figure out what make-up they've got on Idris Elba (which means its good make-up, I guess) but it's definitely changed his face, somehow. Since he and Nelson Mandela in reality look nothing alike, I suppose a change was necessary. That said it's confused me where it matters - namely, I can't tell if this is Idris Elba bursting out of the water or not:

I don't think it is, but there are shots in the trailer where Idris' make-up makes him almost unrecognizable to me, so...? I don't know. I keep scanning this movie's trailers for something, anything, Idris exploitation-wise, but something tells me the filmmakers might not entirely subscribe to my theory about the commingling of sexiness and seriousness. I guess we'll see.
