Pics of the Day

.
(click to embiggen) The promise of Jake Gyllenhaal's new movie An Enemy (which has maybe been renamed to just Enemy, according to IMDb?) is finally coming home to roost - in the film, Jake plays two men who are totally identical who stumble upon each other, and the fall out this causes in their respective lives. It's based on a terrific book by Jose Saramago. We've already seen one promising shot from the movie, but now at last, and as you can see above, yes, they touch each other. That's all I need! That's all I have EVER needed.

The movie's showing at the Toronto Film Festival, as is Jake's other new movie, Prisoners with Hugh Jackman. Prisoners actually has a release date already, and it's soon, much sooner than I realized even; it's out on September 20th. Enemy doesn't seem to have a date yet, but believe you me we will be looking for that. And if you hit the jump I've got a couple more pictures to share. (pics via)

And both movie are directed by Denis Villeneuve (nominated in the best foreign language film with Incendies). Looks like a new actor-director relationship is developing...
