I Am Link

.
--- Bites Back - Ben Stiller is teaming back up with the writer of his really very wonderful 1994 movie Reality Bites to make a television series out of it. It'll be set in the 90s, it'll be in Houston, it'll follow Winona Ryder's character Lelaina around, yadda yadda. Presumably Lelaina will be played by a different actress. Although with the way Noni's movie career's been going... nah, I imagine it would would be a very different story to meet up with a 42 year old Lelaina.

--- Garbage Day - Over at The Film Experience Tim compares this Summer's shitty movie season to three shitty Summer movie seasons of the past, and finds it's not the shittiest shitty movie season to have ever been shit, really.
.
--- Just Say Norse - There are some new pics and clips from the second Thor movie over here, but when Stellan Skarsgard's legs are the most skin we're seeing from a movie starring Chris Hemsworth it seems to me we have a problem.

--- Bat Fleck - Can I just bury the news about Ben Affleck getting the Batman part in the upcoming Superman Vs. Batman sequel to Man of Steel here in the middle of this post and pretend it's not true? I really was hoping that his "success" as a director was going to get him to set aside "acting" for good, but obviously I misunderestimated the man's misplaced ego. Listen, I'm not a fanboy who's throwing a hissy over this having anything to do with my precious Batman - I've just been saying that Ben Affleck is a horrible actor forever now, and especially with the past Oscar season obnoxiousness I just can't stand to look at him. And now he's coming between me and my Henry Cavill Chest? Horrors.

--- Mocking Lady - I saw a picture of Natalie Dormer the other day and thought to myself, gee golly damn, I really like her, I hope she gets lots of work in the future. She plays Margaery on A Game of Thrones, you know. And lo behold some casting agent picked up on that mental transmission and did my bidding, because she just got cast as Cressida in the last two Hunger Games movies. Granted it's been awhile since I read the books so I have no idea who Cressida is off the top of my head, but whatever, yay Natalie.

--- Fake Empire - Slash singles out a choice quote from an interview with Joss Whedon about the second Star Wars movie (it's called The Empire Strikes Back, maybe you've heard of it?) and his trouble with its non-ending, and Slash reasonably applies that to what we can expect from the second Avengers movie, ending-wise. Apparently the quote's from a bigger interview that EW will publish later.

--- Wicker Gods - Even though the second movie in Robin Hardy's "Wicker Man trilogy" was really, really terrible (although it did have a really beautiful man strip naked and skinny dip in an extended scene, which was a highlight), he's moving ahead with a third film, which will be called Wrath of the Gods, but apparently it will have nothing to do with Sam Worthington fighting a crab-monster in a skirt.

--- Breaking Betsy - Our pal Sean got to chat with purple lady Betsy Brandt about the end of Breaking Bad, and it's really a delightful chat from start to finish. I really really love Marie, her character on the show, and she seems like such a cool lady in real life; I'm glad she's already got more work (Michael J. Fox's new show) lined up, even though I probably won't watch that.

--- And finally, here's the trailer for the new horror flick from Dennis Illiadis, the director of surprisingly good (until that pretty ridiculous last scene) remake of The Last House on the Left, with the challenging name of +1. That's gonna be a pain to find tickets for, find online, see on a marquee, so on. But LHotL was good and so I'll def. try to check it out.
