Everything You Ever Need To Know About Death

... you can learn from:

Beetlejuice (1988)

Juno: What's wrong?
Barbara: We're very unhappy.
Juno: What did you expect? You're dead.

Taking that lesson to heart Sylvia Sidney must be very unhappy indeed since she died 14 years ago, but we still want to wish her the happiest birthday possible all the same. She was born 103 years ago today. Her name came up a couple of times this week in reference to people's favorite performances in Hitchcock movies - she starred in his 1936 film Sabotage, which I really need to see again; it's probably been fifteen years since the last time, and I always confuse it with Saboteur. (Aside: I just re-watched Saboteur a couple of months ago and gave it the Thursday's Ways Not To Die treatment.)

She's great in Sabotage, she's pretty great in everything, but they did not get along. It was something that Sylvia, no shrinking violet off the screen, was very clear about in interviews.
