What, you think I'm going to pass up an opportunity to talk about James Wolk in his Mad Men short shorts a second time? When I posted about it last week I missed this interview with him at the New York Times where the subject invariably came up...
NYT: One scene from this season that will live on is the sight of Bob Benson in his summer shorts. What was it like for you to shoot that?
Wolk: I personally am not a shorts-wearing guy. That goes for any form of shorts, beside sports shorts, that I have to wear. So for me this was like someone who’s afraid of heights bungee-jumping. I remember in fitting, we were looking at a number of shorts. These were the shortest of those shorts that we looked at.
NYT: And you chose them?
Wolk: It was done by jury. I don’t think my vote necessarily counted. And after seeing the episode and seeing the shorts, now I’m thinking about getting a pair in my closet. I enjoyed it.
Alright this is almost enough for me to forgive the Mad Men costuming department for them telling Jon Hamm he needs to start wearing underwear. Almost! Not quite, but almost. If James Wolk is photographed in his personal life wearing these kind of short shorts all the time now, then maybe they'll receieve a full pardon. We will wait and see - the burden's on you, Jimmy!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was entranced by this man in his little shorts in that episode. Those dream shorts.
If there were some Perverted People Choice Awards, those shorts would be a slam dunk for best break-through the-fabric-please- award that I've just made up.
In fact, I think we should start those awards ourselves. Right here.
Ha! I just saw my comment.
How disappointng that his crush is Pete Campbell and not Don Draper! I fear for the future of his character (and our possibilities to see those short shorts again).
