You maybe might recall Jane Got a Gun, the next movie from We Need To Talk About Kevin director Lynne Ramsey - it is set to Natalie Portman as a frontierswoman whose hubby shows up on the doorstep riddled with bullets, who must turn to an ex-flame to defend herself and her dying man from the gang coming to finish what they started. I hadn't been able to sort out who was playing who, but Michael Fassbender and Joel Edgerton were set to play the two men in Natatlie's life, I think? The parts just keep being described as "the male lead" and "the villain," and I don't know if the husband is the lead part, or if the ex-flame is the lead part, or if by "the villain" they mean the leader of the gang coming to get the husband if that's a big part, or what.
Whatever the case, Michael Fassbender has had to bow out of the movie because it kept getting pushed back, filming-wise, and now he's scheduled to work on the second X-Men Muppet Babies movie, Days of Future Fourgy. Fassy out! Meanwhile Joel Edgerton has taken over what would have been Fassy's part, whichever one that was - THR just describes it as "the male lead." Whether that's the dying husband or the ex-flame, I do not know. (I'm leaning towards the latter? Seems like the husband will spend most of the movie dying?)
And taking over what the role of "the villain," the part that Edgerton had before, is Jude Law. And keep in mind, I have no idea where he fits in, but Rodrigo Santoro also has (had?) a part in this movie, too. So the basic thing to know is this - it is totally fucking awesome to be Natalie Portman.
