Oh goody news about somebody I don't get to post about as much as I'd like to - Moritz Bleibtreu, probably still best known here in the US for playing Manni in Run Lola Run (although he's since been in stuff as varied as The Baader Meinhoff Complex and Speed Racer), is going to play... Karl Lagerfeld? What in the what now? Says Variety:

"Budgeted at €12 million ($16 million), "Yves Saint Laurent" is actor-turned-helmer-scribe Jalil Lesper's third feature.

Pierre Niney, who won a newcomer actor Cesar nom for "J'aime regarder les filles," will play Saint Laurent. Moritz Bleibtreu ("Soul Kitchen," "The Baader Meinhof Complex") will limn friend and rival designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Billed as an epic odyssey of creation, love, glamour and fashion, "Yves Saint Laurent" kicks off in January 1958 with the designer, just 21, presenting his first haute couture collection for Christian Dior to great success."

You know, with the wig plopped on and the general fashion-vampire accoutrement in place, I think I can see it working. And I never thought I'd hope to see a scene of Karl Lagerfeld getting slutty but with Moritz playing the part, all bets are off.
