I Am Link

.
--- Prairie Dawg - Okay now he's just fucking with me - David Gordon Green is going to make a Little House on the Prairie movie. I don't actually think it'd make a terrible movie as long as they take it seriously a la something like Meek's Cutoff (and since it's coming from the writer of Shame, that's probably where they're going.) But he took my skepticism about a remake of Suspiria and dashed it on the floor with incredible casting announcements, and then once I was all on-board he's abandoned it for this and a movie with Nicholas Cage? WTF DGG. Well as long as we're here, I know who can play Nellie Olesen!

--- Joss Boy - Oh goody something to read on my lunch hour - an interview with actor Fran Kranz (Topher on Dollhouse, the stoner in The Cabin in the Woods) all about Cabin and its myriad eccentricities of delight.

--- Coming Fright - I have wanted to see the 1971 Australian psychological-horror thriller Wake In Fright for a very long time but it's been impossible to find - until now! It's been restored and is going to play in NYC starting this weekend and then out to LA after that; dunno what it'll do from there but a DVD can't be that far behind. EW has a clip from the film. I am so very very busy with the NYFF but I have got to find time for this one.

--- Pussy Galore - No pressure Glenn, I know how difficult keeping these things up are, but I hope your attempt at watching 31 horror movies over the course of October works because I want to read that! Today's first swipe is at Paul Schrader's 1982 version of Cat People with Natassja Kinski and Malcom McDowell and that scene where Ed Begley's Jr's arm gets torn off that we love.

--- Lone Gunman - There are several new images from the Johnny Depp-led version of The Lone Ranger making the rounds but they're only notable if you ask me for the sight of twelve-foot-tall Armie Hammer in cowboy clothes. That's what will get me to eventually watch this movie, and then hate myself for.

--- West Korean - It's brief but here's the extraordinarily lovely and talented Elisabeth Olsen talking about what Spike Lee wants to do with his remake of Oldboy, which she's set to co-star opposite Josh Brolin and Sharlto Copley in. It's pretty much what we've been hearing about the manga playing an important role.

--- Moviesaurus Rex - Speaking of brief uneventful updates that I'm nonetheless linking to, here's producer Kathleen Kennedy telling us where they stand on Jurassic Park 4, which is "writing writing writing." here's an idea for a scene - dinosaurs attack people on a island, and cut. Print.

--- Splatter Casino - I never thought I would ever type this sentence but here goes: I wanna go to Las Vegas! Only because of the haunted house that Eli Roth built though. BD reviews the so-called "Goretorium" and they give it high marks. (pic via)

If the do a simple remake of Little House, your choice for Nellie Oleson is excellent.

If they go for Nellie Oleson, the Mature Years, Ann Romney would be perfect.

"Wake in Fright" is so, so good. Absolutely terrifying. Chips Rafferty is like Jacki Weaver in "Animal Kingdom". Jeepers.
