Scare Me Silly, Boys

.
BD's reporting that Eli Roth is going to produce director Ti West's next movie, something called The Sacrament, and that shooting actually starts on the picture next month! That's all the info they've got, besides some quite reasonable gushing from Eli about Ti's abilities, but do not doubt I'll be all up in whatever news comes whenever it comes. Bonus: here's Eli on a plane with Joss Whedon!

Relatedly (to Ti that is) since I was out last week when the anthology found-footage flick V/H/S got released on demand I never got to make mention of it - have any of you seen it yet? Here's my ye olden-times review. Tell me what you thought! Opinions have been pretty all over the map from what I've seen. Anthologies tend to warrant such reactions though, just from a single viewer even.

Ti West, eh? Can't wait for the first 2 1/2 acts.

Touche, dude. I am still waiting for GREATNESS, but he's almost gotten there! We horror fans have got to cherish the good ones, there's way too much total crap being made. I think he's got it in him. Have you seen Trigger Man, Will? I actually think that's his strongest movie when it all adds up. And The Roost is terrific fun, although not straining for much more than that. I'll give you House of the Devil not adding up to all it could've been, as well as The Innkeepers (although it's the last act I like in The Innkeepers the most).

I've only seen House of the Devil and The Inkeepers. I'll have to look up some of his other stuff. I actually really do like the two that I've seen. He excels at setting the scene and slow burn plotting, but I don't think the pay off has really worked in either. Especially in The Innkeepers.

Wondering if you saw a nice little horror film that came out this year called Entrance. I know it is on Amazon Streaming. It has the same kind of great slow burn set up but I personally think it nails the landing better than either Innkeepers or House of the Devil. Really effective.

Sweet! I have not, and thanks for the heads-up, I will check it out. I'm literally - LITERALLY - dying for horror recs these days.
