I'm a little bit surprised this is happening without the Broadway cast - the super in-demand Nina Arianda and the super I-demand Hugh Dancy - but I guess he's Roman Polanski and he does what he wants (I just opened the floor for a whole lot of comments there). Plus I suppose Hugh's busy with Bryan Fuller's Hannibal and Nina's busy with movies. Via The Playlist:
Polanski will co-write and direct "Venus In Fur," and has lined up his wife Emmanuelle Seigner and Louis Garrel to star. Penned by David Ives (who co-wrote the screenplay with Polanski), this is another tale about shifting power, all in a contained setting with story centering on the writer/director of a new play who is enduring the audition process of finding an actress for the role in his upcoming work. But a new talent comes in at the last minute and is seemingly the opposite of everything he's looking for...but of course, this is just the beginning.
I'm still pissed I never got out to see VIF when it played, and it played for a very long time so I have no excuses. Theater's expensive, man! Anyway the last thing that I saw Seigner in was the quite literally atrocious Giallo from Dario Argento, so hers is not a name I get excited about - it's more like an onset of PTSD at the mention of her name. Garrel, however...
... yeah, he'll do.

It will be in French. That's one reason for not having the original cast.
Well yeah but it didn't have to be in French, he could've made it in English. Maybe he's just tired of having to fake American settings with foreign locations?
Well, God of Carnage didn't have to not be in French, so, who knows with Roman? :p
Nothing should be in French, is my point. ;)
Faîtes attention, on pourrait croire que vous êtes pour les frites de la liberté et tout ça et tout ça...
Mmm Freedom Fries... ;) I'm just kidding, Mangrove! No worries. I know I can't hold Gérard Depardieu against an entire country.
I'm not worried, I know we are doing/have done plenty against "cinema" like François Truffaut or Léa Seydoux. Evil, evil people...
Oh no. He's going to fuck it up like God of Carnage.
