I've grown cynical when it comes to red-band trailers - they usually just toss in a pair of boobs or an f-bomb and expect us to be grateful. So I was surprised while scanning through this here red-band trailer for Lawless (via) - only to see if any of the red-banded nudity might've belonged to Tom Hardy, mind you (sadly the above shot's the only glimpse) - that I found the trailer's inclusion of the sexy and the violence to really be working. It made me want to see this movie more than any previous trailer has. What had previously seemed a little staid and brown began to pop.
Of course I was always going to see this movie since it stars my beloved Tom and Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain and Guy Pearce (nevermind Shia) and was directed by John Hillcoat. But now I'm actually excited. It's out next week.
