Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Chuck & Buck (2000)

Sam: Now, uh, would we be playing it like little kids
like, uh like, like "La-la-la. I'm a little kid."
Beverly: Well you wouldn't be playing it
like a little retarded kid, but yes,
you would be acting youthful.

Wow what a shitty week this has been. First Susanne Lothar passes, and now the wonderful character actress Lupe Ontiveros goes and dies on us. There's not a week that goes by that I don't think of the scene in As Good As It Gets where Jack Nicholson tells her "Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here." I don't know what it says about me that I walk around with that nastiness on the tip of my tongue, but there you have it.

She also played the verbally abused - for comedy! - maid in The Goonies, not to mention the vengeful verbally abused maid (funny how "maid" keeps coming up, innit?) in Todd Solondz' Storytelling. Love her, and bless Mike White for giving her such an atypical and delightful role in Chuck & Buck.

Thank you for giving her a delightful send off. I was going to do the same thing on my blog but you said pretty much what i wanted too.

May Lupe join Ma Fratelli, Sloth and the guy who played Mikey and Brand's dead in the great Goonies cast reunion in the sky.

I liked her as Mama Solice on DH. I saw Chuck and Buck and it's creepy weird. It's 2 guys, one getting married and his used to be friend stalks him. Either I missed the point of the movie or it's just not my taste.
