But Ya Are, Faye, Ya Are

.
I will just direct you to something I tweeted last evening:
"If Faye Dunaway doesn't play the Joan Crawford part in the Whatever Happened To Baby Jane remake I'm burning Hollywood to the ground."
And ooh boy do I mean it. Just think of the meta! Faye playing Joan again! Only now that she's old and effectively long ruined her own career with bad choices and bad attitude and bad plastic surgery. My boyfriend thinks that means she ought to play the Bette Davis role but my brain goes squishy at the thought of her making Grand-Mommie Dearest. It will, of course, never happen - Faye is far too humorless about all of this, alas. But anyway that's right, they are indeed remaking Baby Jane. Who would you cast?

I agree that Faye would never do it sadly and she would have been perfectly matched with Susan Sarandon as Jane.
Who I think will probably end up doing it is the usual mix of Meryl, Jessica Lange, Glenn Close etc. all fine actresses but their casting wouldn't make it special.
Something along the lines of Karen Black as Jane and Raquel Welch as Blanche or better yet Ann-Margret as Jane and Kim Novak as Blanche would be inspired.
