Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

The Thing (1982)

Childs: I just cannot believe any of this voodoo bullshit.
Palmer: Childs, it happens all the time, man.
They're falling out of the sky like flies.
Government knows all about it, right, Mac?
Childs: You believe any of this voodoo bullshit, Blair?
Palmer: Childs, Childs... Chariots of the Gods, man.
They practically own South America.
I mean, they taught the Incas everything they know.

Besides it being the 30th anniversary of Blade Runner today, it's also the 30th anniversary of John Carpenter's masterpiece The Thing. If I'd been older than four this would have been the awesomest day at the movies ever! Alas I was probably drinking Juicy Juice and watching Sesame Street, and wouldn't have the privilege of being warped by The Thing's slimy beasties for a few more years. Wanna hear something disgusting? I have never read John W. Campbell's story "Who Goes There" which was the basis for the movies. Disgusting!

Did you see The Thing in the theater?

Yeah, I'm an old man and I saw The Thing in its first theatrical run. I guess I was 18.

Man, did it freak me out. Still does. :-)
