--- Hobbit Violence - Dread Central has the first couple of pictures from the remake of Maniac starring Elijah Wood as an uber-creepy serial killer with a thing for hair and lady mannequins. This movie is already a complete u-turn from the original because Elijah Wood splattered with blood is sexy, while Joe Spinell [fill in the blank] is the exact opposite of sexy. And goodness knows what our serial killer movies are missing is more sexiness, and hobbits.
--- Stacked Deck - This is spoilery for The Avengers so only click over if you've already seen the film but AICN pursues a thought that I too have had regarding the fates of one of the characters therein. Vague, I know. But I think AICN is right.
--- Second Sickness - Steven Soderbergh isn't going to have anything to do with it, most likely, but the producers behind Contagion are maybe going to make a sequel. It's out to writers. Was it really that big of a hit to justify such a thing? I mean I loved it, but I don't know that it would work a second time, especially since it was the Soderbergh-ness of it that got me. Perhaps if they find a way to scalp Gwyneth Paltrow a second time it could work.
--- I Know You Are - Paul Reubens says that things are plugging along on his Pee Wee Herman movie that Judd Apatow's producing and they should be shooting soon. He also makes apologies for how he's been talking this up for so long now that we're all doubting it will ever happen. It will happen! Probably! Fingers crossed.
--- Ghost Ship - I don't even know where anything stands that director Neil Marshall's been attached to over the past couple of years, but I'm about damned ready for him to make a new movie. It's been over two years since he made Centurion. He was supposed to make his 3D splatters-piece Burst with Sam Raimi (about people exploding, in 3D), but we haven't heard anything about that in ages and it's off his IMDb page so I guess it's dead, sadly. He announced a slasher movie set at an amusement park called Hellfest back in December, but again, nothing. Now there's word that he's actually going to make The Last Voyage of the Demeter, which he's also been wanting to make for awhile, which is about the ill-fated boat that Dracula rides from Transylvania to England and all the horribleness that goes down thereupon.
--- Love No Compassion - It's in French but here's our first look at Michael Haneke's new movie with Isabelle Huppert, called Amour. It will be shown at Cannes, and I will not be there. Cue a single silent tear rolling down my cheek.
--- And finally, via BD here's the first real trailer for the fifth season of True Blood, which starts in just a few weeks. Meloni fangs! Dapper Skarsgard! But isn't it weird that there's a definite absence of sexiness? Besides the brief glimpse of some girl-on-girl in a bathroom stall (was that Jessica and Pam? Was Sookie in there? It all flashed too quickly for me to tell) and a skinny second of a shirtless Sam Mertlotte. I mean, they do know we're all there for the Manganiello and Skarsgard nudity, right?

The Maniac remake is a sin! Nobody could replace Joe Spinell. He is spinning in his grave right now.
You know Marshall directed the Battle of Blackwater episode of Game of Thrones, right?
Jenny - I have to admit I'm actually curious to see what Elijah does with it. But bless Joe Spinnell, he was amazing.
Sean - Yup I knew that, I only left it out because the paragraph was long and I was rambling. Because apparently once a year I worry about rambling. But that was a darn good episode from what I remember!
True Blood...Hoyt is now a back-alley vamp gimp?
I can work with that.
