Theresa Russell in Ken Russell's Whore,
or Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman?
.
.
The deck's probably stacked against poor Theresa here since it's a hard movie to track down - hell, I only finally saw Whore yesterday after wanting to for ages and ages. For some reason I'd convinced myself that it and Pretty Woman came out at the same time, which makes no sense and seemed an especially stupid thing to think once I actually watched it - it's obviously riffing mercilessly on PW with its borderline-obscene glorification of prostitution as a dewey-eyed romantic fairy-tale. There's even a conversation about the insane stipulation that she won't kiss on the lips!
And yet, as gross as I know everything about Pretty Woman is... dammit I still totally love it so much. The shopping scene! The evil Beverly Hill saleswomen! "Big mistake. Huge!" "The condom of champions - nothing's gettin' through this sucker." I could go on and on, I have that movie memorized. I just might have a harder time watching it now without hearing "I wouldn't waste my cum on you!" or "It's just a factory - a pussy factory!" echoing in my head too.

I remember when this movie was playing at like one tiny theater in DC. I used to clip and save movie ads from the Washington Post for some reason (I was like 13, okay?), and I guess they couldn't advertise it under its actual title, so WHORE had a big stamp over it that read: "IF YOU CAN'T SAY IT, JUST SEE IT."
I saw Whore this year at a Ken Russell restrospective. Even though it's not my favorite KR film by a long shot (Crimes of Passion, duh)and it's an unbelivably flawed film, it was fun and weird and Theresa Russell was just awesome. Also, I loved to see a 35mm print of it after years
