A happy 67th birthday to the actor Jeroen Krabbé today. That pic above is Krabbe on the left with Susan Penhaligon and Rutger Hauer in Paul Verhoeven's great 1977 war movie Soldier of Orange, a movie we've talked about before, right here. It's certainly worth seeking out - anything by Verhoeven is.
Speaking of Total Recall was on TV Saturday afternoon and I got sucked in for the millionth time. Even edited for TV - show me the three-titted hooker, damn you! - it's such ridiculous fun. And while I was watching that I read the news that somebody's remaking Starship Troopers? Oh I'm sure they'll say they're going back to Heinlein's original source material, which is pretty different from Verhoeven's movie, but I just can't fo-rsee a situation where they make something as endlessly delightful and fascinating as the movie we already have.

Thanks for this birthday post on Jeroen Krabbé, an underrated film actor. Soldaat van Oranje is one of my all-time favorite films, as is verhoeven's De Vierde man (The Fourth man). One correction on the post: the actress in your pictures is not Belinda Meuldijk, but Susan Penhaligon. Greetings from Amsterdam!
Thank you for correcting me on that, Bob! I was having trouble figuring out which actress it was, and apparently I made the wrong guess! I will go fix it now. :)
Yup we love The Fourth Man, too!
