I meant to ask this question yesterday, forgot, and was just reminded while reading Glenn's take on what he watched over the holiday weekend (The Burning, so good!) - what scary movies did you guys watch this past weekend?
I was running around in Boston but I had time to watch the original Halloween for the fifteen-thousandth time, and then for the second time apiece I watched 1988's Night of the Demons (which save the lipstick scene was way more boring than I remembered it being) and Teeth, which I liked even more this go around. (Where are you, Jess Weixler? Why aren't you in everything?)
So what did you all watch for Halloween?

Well sure, you "can" say such a thing, but why would you when it's QUANTIFIABLY RIDICULOUS?
Also, you didn't answer the question, RJ! Did you watch no scary movies this weekend? If this is true then it's even more true that you're a Halloween scrooge who has no business judging slasher movies, says me! ;)

and i realized something while watching it- it's probably the first vampire related movie i've ever seen. (i was 5 or 6 when i first saw it.) and sharon is pure perfection in it. a goddess.
First I watched Rubber, but it was more funny than scary.
Then I saw Contagion, not a Halloween movie, but scarier than Rubber.
And finally I ended my night with The Exorcist (First time I watched it! Unbelievable, I know.) that totally freaked me out, as expected.
I watched Alien and The Shining.
My husband picked up the Blu-Ray of "Nightmare Before Christmas." So, we had five friends come over and watch that, with "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" as the opening act. Not scary, per se, but fun nonetheless.
maja - I wish I'd seen TFVK when I was a little kid, even though I never thought of it that way it's such a great kid's horror movie. Scary but not SCARY, with a lot of silliness. I hope any and all of you that have children know to show it to them! Tate really was so unbelievably beautiful.
Gabriel - Ooh so jealous of a first-time Exorcist viewing! You can only see it the first time once, and it's always a doozy.
RJ - Now that is an unassailable double feature right there.
Jon - I missed Charlie Brown this year and I was really dying to see it, too! Maybe I'll watch it online tonight and pretend it's timely. So wonderful.
Simpson's "Treehouse of Horror V", with my favorite, "Nightmare Cafeteria".
"Kids, you're 8 and 10 years old, I can't solve all of your problems anymore. You march right up to that school and say "Don't eat me!'".
The awful weather put me on a binge: I managed House of the Devil, Hocus Pocus, Scream 4, and Dracula. (I watched about fifteen minutes of the sequel to Ginger Snaps, but please don't blame me. Blame Netflix's spotty horror section.)
William Castle classics Strait Jacket (amazing Joan Crawford), The Tingler (amazing LSD Vincent Price) and I Saw What You Did (not so amazing baby sitters but hey there's Joan again).
Them (Ils), which I thought was a pretty tense little French thriller. Much better than The Strangers, which I cared for not (other than Scott Speedman's handomosity).
Halloween H20, which has not stood the test of time well, though I still get chills when JLC chops off Mikey's head (even though I know the abortion of a followup popped his head back on).
The Burning is a bad, bad movie that is sooo sooo good. I want the raft scene played on a loop at my funeral. (I think putting this in the comment thread here is as good as putting it in a legal will, so done.)
Zombie on blu-ray - it looks phenomenal! Then House by the Cemetery (also on blu-ray, but poor picture quality) for a Fulci two-fer. Then took a nap and finished up with Dread (pass!)
KAREN BLACK in TRILOGY OF TERROR.
Simply amazing. Campy, fun and at times pretty creepy. Karen Black is a queen.
I put on the most DVD release of Deep Red only to discover that twenty minutes were inexplicably missing from the movie. Then I went on Amazon and discovered everyone defending the cuts because they didn't affect the gore and because the talking scenes were just "boring" and "silly." So that was my scare for Halloween.
The "most recent" DVD release of Deep Red, that should read. The one with the cover of the doll in the noose. Avoid it!
Make-Out With Violence (I wish Patrick's storyline had been explored a little more, but I really liked it and I can't believe a some kids just out of college directed this, it's so well made) and the ridiculously funny Community Halloween special. And Animal Kingdom, which wasn't exactly Halloween-y but I thought I had to return the DVD the next day.
