Pretty, Wicked

.

The teaser trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman is online over at Apple - although I don't really get calling it a teaser, it seems fairly thorough to me. Especially considering they are currently still filming the movie and they've already got this much footage to show and specials effects done? We live in a nutty fast-paced world. Anyway! It's absolutely Charlize-riffic.

There's more Charlize in this thing than there is Kristen Stewart, I reckon. I mean that's the right way to appeal to me, I want this thing to be nothing more than ninety minutes of Charlize vamping it up and then Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin making out some.

Anyhowdy I took a whole bunch of screencaps and they are 98.5% Charlize too, just because good god I love her so much. With this and Young Adult it feels like good times to be a Charlize fan, after she seemed to slip away for a bit. Welcome back, goddess! Hit the jump for more.

I think the Charlize casting is so much better than Julia Roberts in that other Snow White movie, except for the fact that we are all going to have to buy the fact that there is someone more beautiful than Charlize? and it's Kristen Stewart? No.

I second every word you just said, Rebecca.

The first batch of after-the-jump caps remind me of Queen of the Damned. Unfortunately.

I doubt Sigourney Weaver, dancing ecstatically with a bloody heart, will ever be surpassed.

And so far, the effects look... cheap.

1) I would like to echo Rebecca's comment. From what I've seen, Charlize nails it. But Kristen? More beautiful than her? Clearly there are no eye doctors in this fantasy land.

2) I suspect this might end up being a case of involuntary subversion of a classic. Because I'm all set for rooting for the Queen instead of Snow White.

I will join the naysayers on this trailer. You can just count off the other movies it is reminiscent of -- and none of them much good.

Like that milk bath -- it looks just like a scene from 'Beowulf' where CGI-Jolie rises out of a lake.

Digital rehash.

I do have to say that being reminded of Siggy in Snow White: A Tale of Terror is a blast from the past, something I had totally forgotten about, and something I have to see IMMEDIATELY. I haven't seen it since it came out probably, and have very VERY find recollections of it. And talk about serendipity, they just put it on Netflix Instant!
