Not Sure You Should Say Sex Poodle In Your Vows

.
Has anyone read Evan Mandery's novel called Q? It came out this past Summer and surface-wise it sounds like the exact same story as the "Hell's Bells" episode of the sixth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here's the description of Q:

"Shortly before his wedding, the unnamed hero of this uncommon romance is visited by a man who claims to be his future self and ominously admonishes him that he must not marry the love of his life, Q. At first the protagonist doubts this stranger, but in time he becomes convinced of the authenticity of the warning and leaves his fiance. The resulting void in his life is impossible to fill."

And here's the synopsis of "Hell's Bells":

"It's the day of Xander and Anya's wedding. Emotions are running high with Xander's dysfunctional family clashing with Anya's demon friends. The ceremony is disrupted when an old man claiming to be the future Xander shows up... [and] approaches Xander to warn him that his life with Anya may not turn out to be the married bliss he has hoped for."

Q apparently takes the idea further though, and has a whole bunch of Future Selves show up over the course of the book to keep warning the protagonist about other things. So there's that.

Anyway I bring all this up because that's where my brain went reading the news that an adaptation of the book is David Gordon Green's next project, says Variety. I say they cast Nicholas Brendon! He brings a twin with him so they can cheapen the budget of all the Future Selves, after all.

I met Nicholas Brendon at a convention last month. I'd given up on meeting him because the lines were ridiculous, but then I almost bumped into him while I was looking for somewhere to sit down. And he took one of my wedges. It was awesome.

Sorry, I know that's irrelevant, but I'm still just so pleased about it that there's an irresistable urge to tell this story whenever he's mentioned.

The pic with his brother makes for interesting thoughts!

Totally saw them both at a bar in Santa Monica while I was visiting my sister. I worked SO HARD not to walk over and nerd out all over them. Instead just kept pretending to be casually glancing out the window so I could stare at them and vibrate with excitement in my seat.
