-- But speaking of Shame, Fox Searchlight picked the picture up for US distribution over the weekend, so we can probably expect news of a release soon, for one would assume before the end of the year or thereabouts. Maybe they'll release it on Christmas, because everybody wants to feel just awful for the holidays. Anyway thankfully DH gives us this wonderful passage whilst dicussing the movie's controversial nature:
"What made this a difficult purchase was the explicitness. Fassbender swings about his sizeable penis in numerous full frontal shots, Mulligan goes naked in one scene, and the sex itself is very graphic and covers the gambit - straight, sleazy, rough, gay, threesomes, and very graphic depictions. More importantly McQueen has final cut and will not change a single frame of the film."
I've been hearing so much about what we see and what we don't see in the movie I don't even know what's true anymore. I just gotta see it myself already! 25 days!
--- Camp Country - We just talked about The Cult of Anti-Paltrow here on Friday, and Glenn took up the cause yesterday at Stale Popcorn, having just watched Country Strong which is apparently almost to the point of camp greatness but ever so short.

--- Home Soured Home - Give or take some shots of Daniel Craig in a bathtub, and obviously we'll take those, the trailer for the American version of Dream Home is so boring that it's made me feel like not even bothering with watching the original Korean version. Thankfully Billy Loves Stu is letting us know that would be a mistake. Pax calls it a masterpiece.
--- Mind Freak - I don't think Pontypool
ever got much, if any, of a release here in the US which is a travesty, it's a fantastically smart horror movie about things you don't expect horror movies to be about but then you're like, totally. Here's my review. It was my third favorite horror film of that year. Anyway the director Bruce MacDonald has finally lined up a new movie - it's called Dark Highway and it's about a guy who might be being chased or might be imagining it. A nice basic little premise that a smart director could do plenty with.

--- Amblin Along - A bunch of film-sites got to visit the set of Under the Bed, which is being called an "Amblin-esque kid's horror movie," so think Poltergiest or the skeleton-riddled parts of Goonies or when ET went all sickly and white - shudder - I guess. Here's what AICN has to say, ever enthusiastically. Can't be worse than Super 8.

Will you be seeing Shame at NYFF this year??
I guess they’ll release it this Dec since Fox has MMMM and The Descendants for Oct and Nov.
I will indeed be seeing it at NYFF, Mike! Can't wait!
And for some reason I thought The Descendants was coming out much later than it is. I saw this morning it's out on Nov. 18th now. Which is awesome, because I'm skipping it at NYFF and was afraid I'd be waiting even longer than I am now.
