Quotes of the Day

.
Esquire's got Daniel Craig on their cover this month and in their interview with him he talks a bit about The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo:

"It's as adult as you can possibly make it. This is adult drama. I grew up, as we fucking all did, watching The Godfather and that, movies that were made for adults. And this is a $100 million R-rated movie. Nobody makes those anymore. And Fincher, he's not holding back. They've given him free rein. He showed me some scenes recently, and my hand was over my mouth, going, Are you fucking serious?"

But it was this bit about shooting Rin Tin Tin's Starlight Unicorn Express with Steven Spielberg that amused me most:

"We shot it in mo-cap. Which is like: Fuck me, I'm literally in a leotard with a fucking helmet on, and a camera strapped to it. It's Steven Spielberg, so every fucker in the world comes to visit. Fincher comes to visit. Clint fucking Eastwood comes to visit. It was just like, are you kidding me? I'm gonna meet these people dressed like this? Playing a pirate, wearing a leotard and a camera? Really?"

Daniel Craig, you should be well aware that you of all people have nothing to be ashamed of while wearing a skintight leotard. I for one would love to meet you while you wore such a thing. I'd cherish it.

And here's a little bit that he offers on Cowboys & Aliens, which is what the interview's technically press for:

Esquire: Does the movie have a political heart, or what?

Craig: No... it can't, I don't think. Because it's got cowboys and aliens.

Girl With the Dragon Tattoo cost 100 million dollars? What?

Good point, RJ, I didn't even focus on that. Nobody ever made a bunch of 100 million dollar R-rated movies! I get his point, that bigger budgeted adult films are scarce these days, but it does show him to be in a sort of a bubble, doesn't it? A bubble made out of million dollar bills.

That just makes me nervous. We had a lot of great adult films last year, but they all cost a reasonable or small amount of money. If we start spending that much money, eventually something will flop and there will be no more adult entertainments again.
