Wanna hear a dirty secret? I HAVE NEVER SEEN RABID. I don't know how this is possible, but it is. I've seen bits and pieces but never straight through. It's one of only a couple Cronenberg movies - and the only one that could be called "Cronenbergian" - that I haven't seen yet.

What? JA, I admire your courage in admiting your shame! But seriously, you HAVE to see it as it is so very, very "Cronenbergian". I've only seen it once but it sticks in my mind because, reason number 1: it's great, number 2: it was shot in my hometown so watching all that phallic mayhem go down in such familar surroundings gives me a thrill and lastly, somehow this film "follows" me in my life. I went to college with a cast member, another cast member was one of my professors in university and then years later, I ended up working with the second assistant director. I am constantly checking my armpits for fear of second hand infection. :)

I didn't see Rabid until around 10 years ago. I used to see the video case at the video store as a kid, and it scared me shitless -- that pic of Marilyn Chambers all rabid-ed out. Still gives me the creeps just thinking of it! See it, JA!
