Today Is Real-World Horror Movie Day, Apparently

.
I'm just sitting here minding my own business, eating my bacon cheeseburger (mmm I could've eaten another one), when Gawker has to go and tell of not one but two stories of the real world mimicking the plots of horror films? What a world. These are graphic and horrible, so be prepared.

First up we've got an Americanized Inside. In Kentucky a woman had a miscarriage but didn't want to tell her husband, so in order to cover it up she befriended a pregnant woman on Facebook and then attacked and killed the woman and cut her baby out. If you want the truly, truly horrific details click over to that link, but that is exactly the story of Inside, the French film with Beatrice Dalle in the role of fetus-snatcher. Ugh.

And secondly we have the story of the guy in Beijing who was chatting with his girlfriend in Toronto over web-cam when someone knocked at her door. She answered, a man entered, and the boyfriend watched via his web-cam as this man proceeded to murder his girlfriend in front of him. Ugh, again. This has happened in a film before hasn't it? I can't think of any exact examples but it's had to have happened by now, there have been so many slashers bursting with modern technologies and they way they ensnare and betray us in the past fifteen years.

I think I am going to watch something light and insubstantial tonight. Fuck you, world.

how is it possible that a pregnant woman was killed for her baby and I didn't hear about it until now. She must not have been blond.

Yikes - really upsetting. People really are as fucked up as horror movies would have us believe.

The murder over the webcam situation was used in an episode of CSI: NY, but I'm sure the trope is as old as webcams are.
