Out Damned Spot Out I Say

.

Poor Carrie White. She just wanted to be clean.
But there's no cleaniness to be had for such a wicked girl!

.
Speaking of wicked girls, Brian DePalma's filmography's chock-full of 'em, isn't it? BAM is doing a retrospective of his films, starting tomorrow night with the wonderful 1973 Margot Kidder freak-out Sisters (Noah Baumbach, who curated the program, is introducing). They're showing ten of his films, Sisters being the earliest, up through 2002's gloriously campy Femme Fatale. With the necessary stops at Carrie and Blow Out and Body Double in between, amongst others. I've never seen Carrie on a big screen so I'm hoping with all the hope in my body I can make it to that show (this is kind of a crazy weekend, otherwise there'd be no doubt). Anyway in honor of the DePalma love in the air, here are five of my favorite wicked girls, DePalma-style.

Michelle Pfeiffer as Elvira Hancock, Scarface
"You're always hungry, you should try starving."
Carla Gugino as Julia Costello in Snake Eyes

Nancy Allen as Chris in Carrie
"Oh, Billy. Billy. Oh, Billy. Oh, Billy. Billy.
Oh, Billy. Oh. Oh, Billy. I hate Carrie White."
Angie Dickinson as Kate in Dressed to Kill

Fiona Shaw as Ramona Linscott in The Black Dahlia
"Go to hell, you peasant!"

I would love to see Phantom of the Paradise again on the big screen considering that I was six the last time I saw it in the theater.
