I Am Link

.
--- Big Blond Bam - I was flipping through a huge pile of magazines that'd gathered in my apartment this weekend and saw these pictures of Chris Hemsworth in Flaunt for the first time and they were of definite interest then, and they remain so now. Mmmhmmm.

--- Speaking of the name Hemsworth, Thor's brom Liam is apparently the front-runner for Gale in The Hunger Games, while Josh Hutcherson is the front-runner for Peeta. I think we'll probably know who's been cast by the end of this week, don't y'all? It seems time. I'm fine with both, I think.
.
--- Grand Sam Slam - If you missed it, Things That Don't Suck had a Sam Raimi blog-a-thon last week, you can catch up with all that over here. I had Raimi on my mind over the weekend because I'm reading The Day of the Triffids right now and I need to check and see if he's still planning on making it a movie, because damn it is good!

--- Salem Lights - Billy Loves Stu loves the 1922 Danish silent film Häxan, which is about witches. It looks pretty spectacular, and now I must see it myself.

--- Rickety Cricket - Is Jeremy Renner going to play Jason Bourne? He seems kind of old, I thought these were supposed to be sort-of prequels to the Matt Damon ones, but he and Damon are basically the same age aren't they?

--- Needs More Cavill - We're finally getting some info and 300-ish imagery trickling out about Tarsem Singh's The Immortals - here are several character posters, and here's a description of the trailer footage that aired at WonderCon over the weekend. Sounds epic and beautiful, which is exactly what it ought to be.

--- The White Lady - Speaking of Tarsem, he's found his Snow White, and it is Phil Collins' daughter. Oay. Armie Hammer's playing the prince! And Julia Roberts is still set to play the Wicked Queen.

--- Feeling Green - Also via WonderCon comes some new footage from Green Lantern. I haven't watched it yet - anybody that has, does Ryan take off any clothes in it? That's what matters.

--- And finally, here's the first fifteen minutes of A Game of Thrones. I have no intention of watching this myself until the show airs on the 17th, but y'all have at it.

I just read Hunger Games this weekend and, though I don't really envy the person who has to turn that into a cinematic script, I enjoyed it. I love the idea of The Hutch as Peeta, but I hope they let him keep his dark hair. He would look weird blonde, I think, and who really cares if Peeta is blonde in the book.

"The Day of the Triffids" has already been done 3 times: Twice as a BBC miniseries (1981 and 2009) and once as a movie (1962). The movie is probably the best version so far.

Loved the book. The filmed versions, not so much.
