I don't know exactly what it means that Alex Pettyfer says he was "approached" about playing Peeta in The Hunger Games - does that mean the offer's his to turn down at this point? - but man my first instinct is no, I do not like the thought of him getting the part. Peeta shouldn't be that pretty, should he?

I mean Peeta certainly isn't supposed to be an unattractive character. But he's also supposed to be sold to us on his other qualities. Gale is the gorgeous manly love interest. Peeta's the boy next door. Alex Pettyfer is not anybody's boy next door. I mean I suppose he lives next door to somebody, everyone does, but I have a feeling it could be a bronzer factory or a hall of mirrors. What do we think?

Too pretty.
Peeta should also not even look like a physical threat. Katniss pretty much carried his ass.
Peeta should be slightly rounded from eating all that bread - not ripped and toned. You could dirty him up a bit and he could be Gale.
Where would today's banner be from? I'm almost sure I know it.
Well ... if he's getting that kind of offer, I'd imagine the lead girl is going to be older rather than younger. So, Jennifer Lawrence maybe? Seeing him romance Hailee Steinfeld sounds all sorts of gross.
A lot of people are saying that AP's talking out of his ass and this story's not true, so fingers crossed.
Simon - The banner's from Near Dark.
Your "bronzer factory/hall of mirrors" comment had me laughing all afternoon. Hee hee
Yeah, I agree that he's a no-go for Peeta. Finnick maybe?
I like the idea of him playing Finnick. Then again I like him playing Peeta too. Anything to get him on screen, really.
