I Am Link

.
--- My Sweet Dom - Dominic Cooper gets prominent placement because he isn't on my radar nearly as much as I need him to be. He talked to Vulture yesterday about the good reception his "son of Saddam" movie got at Sundance - He got a standing O! I'll give him a standing O... - and then some about playing Robert Downey Jr.'s aka Tony Stark's father in Captain America (it's set in WWII so that makes sense). If I were to read between the lines of what he says here I'd gather that Dom doesn't really have a lot to do in Captain America, which would be a complete waste of all that charisma (not to mention all that ass).

--- Bucky Boy - Speaking of Cappy & Co., Slash has some quotes from director Joe Johnston on the new relationship between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, his trusty sidekick played by "bad boy" Sebastian Stan, as well as a picture glimpsed there to the left. I guess we know that Bucky's the "bad boy" half because they let him keep his chest hair while good and pure Steve had to raze. And I suppose you know I am going to say something about the two of them going at it hardcore on top of a tank here so just let you imagination run free in that sense and then credit me with the happiness it brings. Saves me the effort this early in the day.

--- Sloppy Joes - I understand I have a tendency to lean towards crotchety at times, but man alive does io9's new lay-out annoy me. Take this post about all the upcoming beefcake in 2011, which ought to be a delightful romp! Instead it's a clicking nightmare to wade through and I hate it. Hate! It's made to work for people on iPads right? Grumble annoying grumble.
--- Pretty Little Killings - Stacie Ponder's been plugging away at her glorious Friday the 13th kills comics but it's been a little while since I posted a link over so here's the latest, for Part V: A New Beginning, which has scads - literal scads! - of kills to enjoy. And there are links therein to the ones I missed too. Read them, love them, print them out onto t-shirts and wear them to sleep at night.

--- Speaking of Final Girls, of which Stacie's obviously the most righteous, in the awesome sense, apparently February is now Women In Horror Film Month? I missed the memo, but Cinematical tells us about it and then they list their fave final girls. There are a couple out-of-left-field choices that make the list more than just Ripley Sally Nancy and Laurie oh my.

--- Getting Stranger Again - Looks like after a couple years now of silence, production is actually gearing up on a sequel to the pretty darn good home-invasion horror flick The Strangers. It's a new director and presumably a new cast although nobody's been hired yet. They say it should film this Summer though.

--- Barnabas Krueger - Looks like Johnny Depp's Dark Shadows movie with Tim Burton will be happening in the near future - casting talks are happening with a couple of folks including Jackie Earle Haley, who I was just thinking about. I was looking through the horror films of 2010 for my list and saw the Elm Street remake and was hoping that the failure of his Freddy Kreuger didn't get him down too much. That movie wasn't his fault. Chin up, Jackie! I suppose he's been through the ups and the downs of this business more than most and gets not to take it too personally at this point, though.

--- Good Casting - Julia Roberts to play an evil witch. That is, she will play one on screen this time. For Tarsem, who's currently busy staring at footage of Henry Cavill's abs and Kellan Lutz's loincloth.

--- Hosts With Mosts - Over at The Film Experience yesterday Nat and we few blessed TFE co-bloggers discussed the things we'd like to see from James Franco and Anne Hathaway when they host the Oscars... whenever they're on. Whoops I have no idea. Anybody? I'm sure I'll watch them of course, I watch them every year, but I really should put them in my calendar so I don't mess that up. What were we talking about? Oh right Jimmy and Anne. I chose sex and violence. I know you're shocked. Go check it out. Awesome Scott Pilgrim reference ahoy!

I also hate the new I09! It's impossible to navigate. I haven't read anything other than the Morning Spoilers since the changeover and I that's only because I remember to check it soon after they're posted. One day I'll miss that window and that will be it for me and I09.

Thanks for listening.
