And Your Little Kunis Too

.

Mila Kunis has joined or is joining or may join Sam Raimi's Oz, The Great and Powerful as the young version of the gal that'll turn into the Wicked Witch of the West, opposite James Franco as the young Wizard. I like it! I like it a lot. Apparently James wouldn't sign on until they landed Kunis, his co-star from a couple of semi-memorable scenes in Date Night. I guess it's just That 70s Show and Freaks & Geeks mixing up in my head but it seems like they've worked together more doesn't it? Anyway these two, along with Raimi natch, have actually got me excited for this project, a possibility that seemed lost in those long dark Downey Jr. days. Hooray!

Speaking of dark days I finally lay down a couple of words about Brad Anderson's Vanishing on 7th Street, which I saw weeks ago, in my new Friday piece up at Celebrity Beehive. It's been out for awhile On Demand but this weekend it's playing in a theater here in New York, hence its mention there. I liked the film, if you haven't been paying attention Anderson's the real deal, but like I'd been worrying for months now its cast is really a nearly insurmountable hurdle for me. Namely the Thandie Scourge. She is unspeakable.

I thought my mother and I were the only people who hated Thandie Newton. All I ever see is praise heaped upon her. WHY, I ASK YOU?

I have NO IDEA, Faith. There are no words for how much I hate her. She shakes something deep and primal within me, this volcanic core of exuberant loathing. She's just this awful unlikable screen presence, and I find her continued employment completely inexplicable. Thankfully she's not around that much anymore, but I'm glad to know I am not alone. We need to form a support group.

She did suck big time in Crash but Crash sucked big time... ya know... Chicken/egg thing.
