I Am Link

.
--- Don't Tread On Me - Rubber, the movie about a tire with evil murderous telepathy, is getting released VOD on February 25th and also getting a brief run in theaters April 1st. Not everything in this world is negative! Cannot wait.

--- Coming To Get Babs - Arbogast writes up some divine thoughts on the opening scene of Night of the Living Dead and how it encapsulates the premise of Romero's zombie horde. Yes.

--- Getcha Ludlow - Stacie Ponder's first full(ish)-length horror film, Ludlow, has gone from pre-order to order-order, and copies will start getting sent out this week! Go forth and order your own!

--- The Saruman Can - Christopher Lee will be in The Hobbit, thank Sauron. So will Ian McKellen, and Elijah Wood, and I think the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and the ghost of Peggy Lee.

--- A Duo To Do - Earlier his morning I posted about the apparently epically terrible film Standing Ovation; over at fourfour Rich offers up a couple more curiosities to the must-see heap. First up there's the 1983 documentary The Store, about Christmas shoppers at a mall in Dallas in 1982 which he calls brilliant and sounds right up my alley. And then there's The Mafu Cage, about which Rich writes:

"I've watched the 1977 Karen Arthur movie The Mafu Cage about a half dozen times since it was reissued on DVD late last year, and I still don't know what the fuck a Mafu is. I believe it is the name Carol Kane's Cissy character gives to all of the creatures she keeps in a cage in her house and eventually murders because she doesn't like being touched. These creatures are usually apes but sometimes humans. Oh, and she doesn't always dislike being touched: she actually enjoys being touched by her sister, who she has sex with, except when she does that, she does most of the touching. This movie is so fucking weird!"

Does that not sound like the greatest movie of all time? Sometimes you think you're running out of weirdness in the world, but there's always more. Hooray!

--- Dragon Ghost Fish - Speaking of people I tend to find some common movie ground with, Nathaniel's started listing his favorite films of 2010 at The Film Experience and I have nothing but good words for every pick so far. Some of them might even be on my own list, when that happens (here's a hint: I actually started working on the Pantys yesterday!)

--- Hung - And then we've got Glenn's 50 favorite movie posters of 2010 at Stale Popcorn, which too rule with an awesome fist. I have a hard soft spot for #3 as you might imagine...

--- The Next Crap - Skipping ahead to the current new year, Joe's checking out the (kinda sad looking) slate for the next several weeks in movie releases over at Low Res. There are only a couple that I'll probably see and none of them are burning me up with a fever for their flavor.

--- Fight the Real Evil - Once upon a time there was a trailer with spider-legged ice cream men and fanged grannies scampering across ceilings and I too thought that equaled awesome. The I saw Legion and I felt a piece of myself die that day. So io9 going on about all the batshit insanity in the trailer for Paul Bettany's latest holy-man-fighting-evil, Priest, only recalls that ache.

--- Bat Gals - Rumors are heating up about casting for the third Nolan Batman, this time about the lady or ladies taking part. Naomi Watts as Vicki Vale? Eva Green as Talia al Ghul? And somebody saw Tom Hardy with scruff and a shaved head so they think that means something! Run around in place like your pants are on fire right now! Ahh!!

i would LOVE it if Eva Green got cast in The Dark Knight sequel. I don't see nearly as much of her as i want to.
