Fish Forward

.
Reader Derek just alerted me to something I'd forgotten about - namely that somehow Andrea Arnold's film Fish Tank hasn't gotten released onto DVD here in the US yet. How is that even possible? That's insanity! Straight up insanity. Well with a little digging I see the news of the film's DVD release was actually just announced earlier this week. Kismet. Via FF:

"Finally announced today, comes news that the uber impressive Criterion Collection will release Fish Tank on DVD in the US in February 2011...

Along with interviews with both Kierston Wareing and Fassbender, the film comes with three of Arnold’s short films, MILK (1998), DOG (2001), and WASP (2003) which won the director an Oscar. Toss in a great piece of cover art (that sums up the film’s sense of alienation as well as its inherent sense of energy), a trailer and some audition footage, and you have the must-own release of the month. The film hits DVD and Blu-ray on the 22nd."

I can't really believe it's not coming out until February of next year, but at least we have a date for now. If any of y'all have missed it, mark this date down. As will all of us who have already seen it, so we can see it again. And again. And again.

Are you into blu-rays?

Sweet, thanks!! Bummed that we have to wait until February, but excited that it'll be Criterion. Also, the extras sound pretty cool. I've been wanting to see WASP, so yay!

BTW, I'm assuming you've seen Red Road? After that and Fish Tank, I will certainly see *anything* Andrea Arnold does.

anon - I haven't moved up to BluRay yet. I am cheap. Also, broke. :( But I've got one of those upgrading DVD players so that bridges the diff slightly.

Derek - Yeah I've seen RR a couple times now and it adds fuel to the fire of my devotions for her too. I hadn't heard of her shorts before so that'll be exciting.
