I Am Link

.
--- But Now I See - I think I've mentioned this movie before, but am feeling too lazy right now to search and see. Anyway AICN has a review of a new Spanish horror flick called Julia's Eyes that played at Fantastic Fest. Like everything horror-related these days it seems, Guillermo Del Toro produced it. Bless him. Anyway it sounds terrific. Unfortunately no word on when it's getting any release yet in Spain, much less here.

--- Humpin Da Trash - Over at FourFour Rich reviewed Harmony Korine's Trash Humpers, and made myriad gifs too. The oddball film has still eluded me though, dammit. A friend of MNPP reviewed the film here ages ago. Want!

--- Spooked In Space - Ridley Scott and FOX are fighting over the fact that he wants his Alien prequel to cost 250 million dollars and be a hard R. This is just a rumor. But as much as I'd love to see what a hard R Alien prequel costing 250 million dollars would be, I don't really blame the studio for not having any of that.

--- Looking Great, Baz - Baz is trying to figure out what movie he'll make next - will it be an adaptation of The Great Gatsby, which he's been working on forever, or will it be a musical? With all due respect to his previous musical successes, I think he oughta go with Gatsby. But not starring Leo Dicaprio, because snooze.

--- Kiddie Flick - Wes Anderson's next film will star a 12 year old boy and girl, and will be called Moonrise Kingdom, and will start filming in the Spring, says Slash. But that's it, so far. Okay.

--- Lying Truths - Michael Shannon, Benicio Del Toro, and James Franco in a movie about the true story of a contract killer for the mafia that didn't let the wife and kids back in Jersey know what paid the bills? That sounds like something I might want to see, at least for that cast.

--- Go North - George Clooney is going to direct an adaptation of the play Farragut North and he supposedly wants Ryan Gosling for the lead. I remember ages ago there were rumors about Jake doing the play on Broadway, but they never came to fruition. You know they never came to fruition because I still have access to a computer because I didn't quit my job and sell my belongings to buy up every ticket to every show of that.

--- And finally, go see what's being said at The Film Experience about Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts teaming up for the adaptation of August: Osage County being mounted. I only know about the play through what Nathaniel's told me but I have to say, as much as I like those two actresses I find the choice of them errifically boring. There are so many great older actresses (ELLEN BURSTYN) not getting anything because Meryl is eating everything up.

Julia´s eyes will be released in Spain on the 29th of october and I heard that its already being bought for USA (it has a lot in common with "the orphanage", which it was a big hit).

I´ve read the script and even if it is not as good as orphanage, it works pretty good and it has a great ending (and, God bless, without final twist).

I´ll watch it next week on the Sitges Film Festival. By the way, these festival sounds made for you! Check the programme:

Best regards from Spain!

Dunno if you covered it in your blog but I really enjoyed Hierro. not so much horror as a visual presentation of grief. great loactiona and cinematography. if you check out my blog (which I'm not trying to plug)
http://fyixyz.blogspot.com/2010/07 . I posted a song that I think represents the movie, which is played in the bath scene.

Sidebar: Imagine what would result in a Pedro Almodóvar and Guillermo Del Toro collab....mmmm

Thanks for the info on JE, Henry K! I figure with GDT attached this'll get a release here eventually. And I share your enthusiasm for a lack of twist - that's gotten really tired as of late. Have fun at Sitges (so so jealous)!

I hadn't heard of that movie, Mtti, so thanks for the heads-up on that. Sounds worth seeing, for sure.
