Sally Menke, the editor who worked on Quentin Tarantino's every film, along with many others, was found dead in LA this morning. Nat has more on it at The Film Experience; they're saying that the nightmarish heat out there right now is maybe the cause. I watched the documentary The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing just the other week in which she had a big part; she seemed like a cool lady, and her work is just astonishing. Here are a couple of her most memorable scenes.

There's such a breadth of techniques used in just those four scenes, and each is instantly iconically Tarantino at the same time. I can't imagine cinema without her work in it.
