Quote of the Day II

.
Apparently at some point in the recent past somebody misquoted Darren Aronofsky's actual real-for-real stance towards 3D or something and he felt the need to clarify. Via Slash:

"With the right project, I’m totally into 3-D. Scorsese’s working in 3-D [on 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret']. I am very curious what that’s going to be. Like everyone, I thought ‘Avatar’ was an incredible experience. I’m also interested in what someone like John Waters would do in 3-D. That’s when it starts to become interesting, when you start to see it used in very interesting, different ways."

Somebody convert Pink Flamingos to 3D right now. I want that asshole to sing to me in three glorious dimensions! I want that poop to shoot right out of the dog, fly across the seats in front of me like an out-of-control space rocket, and plunge into the mouth-hole in Divine's face at a hundred miles an hour! Brilliant idea, Darren. Make it happen.

I googled around to see what John Waters has said about 3D because that man is always talking, bless him, and there had to be something, and sure enough in an interview with Baltimore's Metro Weekly...

"MW: James Cameron is pushing 3D as the next big cinematic breakthrough.

WATERS: I think 3D is for porn -- what are they waiting for? Let's see Jeff Stryker's return in 3D!"

Oh John. Indeed. It's turned into a very John Waters day here at MNPP today, huh? Well every day is a very John Waters day here at MNPP, I hope. It's something to strive towards anyway.

This reminds me that I recently saw that John's next movie Fruitcake, the kid's Christmas movie with Johnny Knoxville and Parker Posey that he's been wanting to make for ages - see a post I did on it in 2008 at this link - is "still looking for a distributor." (via) But does that mean he already made the movie and just needs to distribute it? I hadn't realized he'd even filmed it, if so.
