STYD is reporting that Kip Pardue has landed the lead role in the third Hostel film. Eli Roth isn't going to have anything to do with this sequel, which... well I don't think that even those of y'all out there that dislike Roth can see that as a positive because it's still a Hostel film, and now it's probably just gonna be a low-rent Hostel film, imagine that. One assumes that means it'll be more exploitative, cheaper, in a generic straight-to-DVD sorta way. (I know a lot of people would argue that it can't really get much more exploitative and generic and cheap than Roth's already managed, but they'd be wrong, I says.)
Anyway! It'd be assumed for awhile this would in fact be a straight-to-DVD sequel but rumors floated earlier this week that it might actually get a theatrical release. I think we ought to wait until the thing's at least been filmed before we place any bets on that score.
This third film brings us out of the wastelands of Easten Bloc Torture-tonia and into the bedazzled deserts of sunny, runny Las Vegas. I like Kip Pardue and haven't really understood why he's never caught on - for a skinny minute right when The Rules of Attraction came out it seemed like he might be a bigger somebody, right? The next year he made out with Evan Rachel Wood and Nikki Reed in thirteen, but then poof.
Anyway he seems perfect for a Hostel film, right? Just the perfect amount of pretty-boy fratty douchiness that you wanna see smacked off of him.

Kip Pardue has given some interesting performances over the years in some interesting films. But those have been few and far between. I hope he gets his career back on track. He's too talented to be in these types of films. If he wants to be a low-key working actor who stars in indie films then so be it. But I think he needs to choose his projects a bit more carefully.
I was just looking up Kip Pardue and I think the Hostel film was a death knell for him. He did make it on the L&O:SVU though! You'd think his frontal nudity in Rules of Attraction would have kickstarted something. Shannyn Sossamon was great in ROA. She still seems to be just a bit actor though.
