
My earliest memory of Antonio Banderas is from The Mambo Kings in 1992. Specifically it's this shot that I recall pretty vividly:

He was already shaping up to the next big thing even though he couldn't speak much English when he filmed that movie - he was featured a lot in the movie magazines that I read at the time I remember...

I wouldn't see his great 80s collaborations with Pedro Almodovar until years later, but I already could tell Antonio had something I liked. And he exploited that well through the 90s and then... fizzle... anyway here's to hoping his return to Almodovar-land will remind us of the Antonio we love, right?
