Good Morning, World

.

Yesterday was the actor Chris Messina's 36th birthday, and when I saw his face listed at IMDb I was all, hey I know that face. The shots above are from one of the places I know him from, aka the insufferable Julie half of Julie & Julia, where he played insufferable Julie's insufferable husband who should've just stuck her insufferable head into their insufferable oven and saved us all the never-ending agony. I didn't like that movie. Anyway Messina has played approximately thirteen thousand boyfriends/husbands, one for every actress in Hollywood - he's just got that look. That "I am ridiculously handsome but in the pantheon of movie stars I seem approachable and affable so I'm always the boyfriend/husband who's taken advantage of or ignored until you see how adorable and well-meaning I am" look. Anyway let's look at that look.

He did an amazing job in Away We Go. Everyone recognizes Melanie Lynsky for her traumatizing performance, but I actually found Chris' performance in that same segment to be more affecting.

Whoa, i just finished the finale of Six Feet Under this week from which the pictures are from and I bawled in the last few minutes. It's THAT beautiful. There's a moment where's Chris' character reappears where i pretty much lost it.

I'm not one to cry at movies, books or TV, but that finale really got me. He's a good looking guy, but there's something generic about him. It's probably because i can name off a few other actors he reminds me of.

I'm sure he'll win a best supporting actor Oscar some day.

I also hated that fucking Julie in that Julie and Julia movie. I hated everything about her and her stupid self.

God, I so miss Six Feet Under, but I guess all good things must come to an end. Man, did it ever. That finale totally wore me out. Great stuff. I was just talking to a friend of mine on the phone last night about this show and we couldn't believe how many years it has been gone. Depressing really.
